Hi, this is Erik Snyder from Snyder Law Group in King of Prussia, PA.

I just wanted to give everyone a quick update about what’s going on in the Philadelphia court system right now. As of today, July 28th, 2020, the Philadelphia Court Of Common Pleas has just announced that there will be no jury trials or civil jury trials, I should say until at least January 4th, 2021. That means that all trials previously scheduled, if your case was scheduled, it’s going to be postponed. And we do not know when it will be postponed until the judge is going to have to give out a new scheduling order at that time. Now, what this probably means is that if these cases are getting pushed back your case, which may not be filed or may not yet have been scheduled will probably fall somewhere to the bottom of the pile. So everything’s getting backed up in Philadelphia County right now.

Non jury trials will be heard remotely through that’s like bench trial, which is heard by a judge will be heard remotely by way of video, like zoom, just like this. And all parties are encouraged to explore alternative dispute resolution. And if they had a jury trial scheduled or they’re encouraged to try to agree or stipulate to agree having a judge here instead of a jury. It may be a good idea if you’ve been waiting for your jury trial and it’s postponed, and you really want this to be over with, you may want to consider alternative dispute resolution. That being said, I understand the importance of having your day in court and having a jury trial. So I just wanted to give everyone a quick update about this COVID-19 related postponement of all jury trials in Philadelphia County. If you have any questions or concerns or comments or anything, feel free to post them. And thanks a lot for watching.
